Marco Ruas - Founder

He is famous for being the founder of Ruas Vale Tudo, a hybrid of Brazilian submission fighting and kickboxing. Marco's first recorded fight was in 1984. Ruas went on to compete in UFC, WVC, PRIDE, and IFL.

Biography:

Marco Ruas is a professional mixed martial arts fighter and instructor. He is famous for being the founder of Ruas Vale Tudo, a hybrid of Brazilian submission fighting and kickboxing; he has instructed fighters such as Pedro Rizzo and Fujita. Ruas competed in early Ultimate Fighting Championship events, winning UFC 7 in a classic fight against 6'8", 330lb Paul Varelans. He also faced down opponent Oleg Taktarov in UFC's winning the WVC Super Fight belt in the process.

Marco's first recorded fight was in 1984. Marco's nickname is "The King of the Streets" (Ruas actually means "Streets" in Portuguese). Marco lives in Laguna Niguel, California and coached the Southern California Condors in the International Fight League before the organization's collapse.

Pedro Rizzo


Titles/ Accomplishments:

WVC Heavyweight Champion, UAFC Heavyweight Champion, Contender UFC heavyweight belt, Four-time Brazilian Muay Thai champion. With a professional record of 31-0-1 (30 KO) in kickboxing.

Martial Arts Background:

Trained by Vale Tudo legend Marco Ruas, Rizzo has adopted Ruas' brutal leg kicks and has developed strong stand up fighting and used this to great effect in the cage. Most of his professional kickboxing wins came while spending a few years training Muay Thai in the Netherlands, which is considered the mecca of professional heavyweight Muay Thai kickboxing.

Biography:

Rizzo is a talented and feared striker among MMA athletes. He is a former WVC heavyweight champion, and former contender for the UFC heavyweight belt. Rizzo is the current UAFC Heavyweight Champion.A stint in PRIDE FC didn't go too well for the former UFC Heavyweight Title contender, and Rizzo suffered quick losses at the hands of Sergei Kharitonov and Roman Zentsov. Rizzo returned to his winning ways on the 9th March, 2007 when he beat UFC veteran Justin Eilers by unanimous decision at the début show of Art of War Undisputed Arena Fighting Championships, which was held in Dallas, Texas. He defeated Jeff Monson on September 1, 2007. This fight took place on the first pay-per-view event promoted by the Art of War organization. Rizzo was defeated at Affliction: Banned by Josh Barnett, via knockout in round 2.

Kazuyuki Fujita

Martial Arts Background:

A Japanese professional wrestler, a mixed martial arts fighter and a former amateur wrestler. He begain training in 1999 with professional fighters from Ruas Vale Tudo mixed martial arts. He became known for a relentless style and his exceptionally strong neck that prevents most opponents from being able to knock him out. In MMA, he holds wins over Ken Shamrock, Gilbert Yvel, Mark Kerr, James Thompson and Bob Sapp.

Biography:

When he entered the PRIDE organization, he quickly gained success by defeating such fighters as Mark Kerr, Ken Shamrock, and Gilbert Yvel. In April 2001 he returned to NJPW, and quickly won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. In 2003, he fought PRIDE champion Fedor Emelianenko. Fujita rocked Emelianenko with a wild right hand, but despite his best attempts to remain on the offensive Emelianenko recovered and defeated Fujita via Rear Naked Choke submission. June 2004 he defeated Bob Sapp in an MMA fight. Fujita immediately won the vacated title by defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi. In 2005 he joined the Team JAPAN faction, and on July 18, 2005 he won the championship for the third time.

Martial Arts Background:

Filipović has been successful in both K-1 and Pride Fighting Championships. On September 10, 2006, he won the Pride 2006 Open Weight Grand Prix, and in 2007 began fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Filipović is famous for his left high kicks, with which he has knocked out many of his opponents.

Biography:

Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipović (born September 10, 1974) is a professional Croatian Heavyweight kickboxer and mixed martial artist and a former Croatian law enforcement officer currently fighting in the UFC. Filipović was a former member (2003 - 2007) of Croatian Parliament. His nickname, short for "Croatian Cop", comes from his membership in Croatia's most elite Anti-Terrorist Unit ATJ Lučko.

Debi Purcell

Martial Arts Background:

Purcell has been involved in fitness and martial arts for over twenty years, with competitive experience in Vale Tudo, submission grappling, boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, Tae Kwon Do and gymnastics. Her introduction to MMA came in 1993 during the inaugural Ultimate Fighting Championship, when she was training alongside some of the first competitors in Huntington Beach. Having taken kickboxing, boxing and JKD, she moved on to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and finally Vale Tudo under the famous Marco Ruas, when she says "everything started to make sense".

Biography:

She is actively involved in supporting women's MMA, having set up Fightergirls.com and the WMAA (Women's Martial Arts Association), along with being a top world class competitor herself. Her eventual goal is to develop quality competitions on a regular basis for female MMA fighters, as she discusses in a 2004 interview with TheFightGame.tv. Purcell signed a three-fight deal with Elite XC. Her first fight was against Rosi Sexton at the August 15, 2008 show in Friant, California.Debi lost to Sexton by split decision.

Jeremy Williams

Martial Arts Background:

Williams won the WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Title twice. He is known as a knockout artist, with two of his 35 knockouts coming before 30 seconds of the first round -- he KO'd Arthur Weathers in 10 seconds on March 19, 1996 (the fastest KO in California boxing history) and KO'd Louis Monaco 28 seconds into their second meeting on March 17, 2002 (Williams had knocked Monaco out in 3 rounds 6 years earlier).

Biography:

Jeremy Williams (born August 19, 1972, Fort Dodge, Iowa) is a professional boxer and mixed martial artist. As an amateur, he was the 1989 and 1990 United States amateur Light Heavyweight champion and the 1990 and 1991 National Golden Gloves Light Heavyweight champion, and is a member of the Golden Gloves hall of fame. He was a bronze medalist in the 1990 Goodwill Games in the 81 kg division. His record was 168-4. He lost his temper when he dropped decisions to Montell Griffin in the Olympic qualifiers 1992.

Martial Arts Background:

Justin Robert Levens was an American professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter who fought for the Southern California Condors of the International Fight League. Levens was a participant in Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Extreme Cagefighting but had not fought with either since 2006.

Biography:

Levens grew up poor in Philadelphia housing projects and was on his own from age 15. He eventually moved to Newport Beach, California, where he learned to channel his aggressive energy into organized fighting. He began training at Marco Ruas' Vale Tudo academy in Orange County, and became a light heavyweight mixed martial arts fighter. Levens fought from 2004 to 2008, taking the nickname "Executioner". Levens' first fight was a victory against Hector Carrilo in 2004. He had a string of wins after the Carrilo fight for almost two years. After his seventh win, he lost to Scott Smith in January 2006.

Martial Arts Background:

He is currently fighting for the Southern California Condors of the International Fight League. Ruas' uncle, Marco Ruas, is the coach of the Southern California Condors and selected Rodrigo for his IFL squad because he said he knows just how tough the kid is. Ruas has a strong background in both jiu-jitsu and kickboxing, as one might expect, and he possesses the ability to end a fight standing or on the mat.

Rodrigo Lima Ruas Wang (born October 6 , 1977 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He is currently fighting for the Southern California Condors of the International Fight League.
